Version: 2026.1
Updated Date: March 12, 2026
e-Forensics Inc. (“Company,” “We,” “Us,” or “Our”) is committed to protecting the privacy and security of our users (“User,” “You,” or “Licensee”). This Privacy Policy describes how the LLIMAGER™ Desktop Application for macOS (the “Software”) handles data. Unlike traditional cloud-based software, LLIMAGER™ is designed as a "local-first" tool to ensure maximum forensic integrity and data sovereignty.
2.1 Evidence Data. You acknowledge that LLIMAGER™ is used to create forensic images of physical and logical volumes. e-Forensics Inc. does not collect, store, transmit, or have access to the content of these forensic images.
2.2 Local Storage. All forensic images (.dmg, .e01, .raw) and acquisition logs generated by the Software are stored exclusively on Your local hardware or designated external storage media. At no point is forensic evidence uploaded to e-Forensics Inc. servers.
The Software is designed to minimize data collection. We only collect the following:
3.1 License Validation Data. To prevent unauthorized use, the Software may transmit Your License Key, Hardware ID (UUID), and macOS version to our licensing server.
3.2 Technical Telemetry. We may collect anonymized technical data, such as app crash reports and performance metrics (e.g., imaging speed, error codes). This data never includes file names, folder structures, or the contents of the drives being imaged.
3.3 Update Checks. The Software periodically checks our servers to see if a newer version is available. This involves transmitting Your current version number and OS type.
4.1 Acquisition Logs. The Software generates a detailed log of the imaging process. This log includes hardware serial numbers, timestamps, and cryptographic hashes.
4.2 QR Code Generation. The Software generates a QR code representing the acquisition log. This QR code is generated locally on Your machine. It contains metadata about the acquisition but is not transmitted to us unless You voluntarily scan it using the LLIMAGER Companion Mobile App as part of the LLSmartVerify™ framework.
5.1 Legal Basis. We process license and telemetry data based on Contractual Necessity (to provide the software you paid for) and Legitimate Interest (to fix bugs and prevent piracy).
5.2 Role as Processor. In the context of the forensic evidence You image, e-Forensics Inc. is neither a Data Controller nor a Data Processor, as we never "touch" or "possess" the evidence data. You remain the sole Data Controller of all forensic evidence.
6.1 System Interaction. LLIMAGER™ utilizes native macOS security protocols and interacts with the Apple File System (APFS) via authorized system APIs.
6.2 No "Backdoors." e-Forensics Inc. does not implement "backdoors" or remote access features in the Desktop Software. Once the software is validated, it can operate in an "air-gapped" (offline) environment if required by Your agency's security protocols.
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer Your information to outside parties. This does not include trusted third parties who assist us in operating our licensing server or conducting our business, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential.
Our Software is a professional tool not intended for children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Version" and "Effective Date" at the top of this document. Continued use of the Software after an update constitutes Your acceptance of the revised policy.
